WHERE THE MAGIC BEGINS! GATES TO THE WORLD!
LUIGI'S FLYING TIRES, CARSLAND
One of the three new attractions located in Carsland at Disney's California Adventure will be Luigi's Flying Tires and it promises to be a fantastic experience.  The ride vehicles have been made to look like oversized Fettuccini brand tires the same tires Luigi proudly displays in his shop, Luigi's Casa della  Tires.  Guest are seated inside their tires, at which time Luigi will direct Guido to turn on the air compressor.  With that command, air will be pumped up through openings in the floor of the tire yard and the vehicles will begin to float and fly.  With Luigi's Flying Tires guest will control their vehicle by shifting their weight around to control which direction your vehicle will  travel.  And if that's not enough fun, you can always turn a lever and make your tire spin.  Carsland is scheduled to open in 2012.
FANTASMIC AT HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS
Travel down Hollywood Blvd and before you hit the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror to the right you'll find the entrance to the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater, home to the nighttime spectacle know as Fantasmic.  Fantasmic begins with a dreaming Mickey Mouse on a darkened island.  The show starts out with Mickey conducting as music and dancing water fountains fill the air.  Suddenly, screens of water emerge and images from you favorite Disney films appear on the water screens accompanied by songs from the films.  One of the most exciting moments in the show is when live characters re-enact the battle scene from the movie Pocahontas. The lagoon fills with canoes filled with native americans determined to defend their land before the English settlers dig it up and destroy it. Only Pocahontas can calm the situation in the end.  Next is a magical moment as Belle and Beast, Ariel and Eric, and Snow White and Prince Charming dance on colorfully light barges that sail past the audience while classic songs from each film plays.  Mickey's dream continues on its nightmarish journey as eerie music begins and the Evil Queen from Snow White concocts a spell  to destroy Mickey.  She calls on Disney's most famous villains  Ursala, Cruella de Vil, Scar, Frollo, Jafar, Maleficent  and Hades to help take down Mickey.  But in the end they are no match for our hero.  The show ends with a flurry of fireworks and the Steamboat Willie River Boat with all your favorite Disney characters glide past to rejoice in Mickey's victory over evil.  Some tips for seeing Fantasmic: Arrive at the amphitheater at least one hour early to get good seats, as theater fills up quickly.  If there are more than one show a night , see the second show, as generally it will be less crowded.
Disneyland Park and Magic Kingdom Park will stay open 24 hours beginning at 6:00am on February 29, 2012.

EXPEDITION EVEREST QUEUE
It's all about the story!  That's why Disney Imagineers take so much time making sure ever resort, attraction, and show has a great story to go along with their great entertainment.  Disney works to make sure every detail is perfect so your vacation can also be perfect.  So the next time you are waiting in line for your favorite attraction look around and immerse yourself in the story that surrounds you.
Disney's Animal Kingdom is a rich tapestry of wildlife, landscaping and, attractions.  Located in the heart of Asia is the fictional town of Anandapur, meant to represent rural Asia, in the Himalayan region. On your way to Expedition Everest you'll notice a food stand named Anandapur Tea Company offering quick snacks and drinks.  Further along you'll find a small shrine to the Yeti, its outline bearing a noticeable resemblance to the mountain range ahead of you.  As you get closer you'll pass by Gupta's Gear shop featuring the necessary equipment for mountaineering expeditions.

The village around the attraction is created with pain staking details to give you the feel that you are in the tiny Himalayan village.  Serka Zong is the name of the village, which means "fortress of the chasm".  The buildings are constructed using the "rammed earth" technique native to Nepal.  The bricks are created by mixing moist dirt with straw and ramming them until they reach a hard consistency.  Strung throughout the village are hundreds of prayer flags, fluttering in the wind.  Tradition has it that once a prayer flag is hung,  it is never to be removed, allowing the elements to reduce it to tatters.  Through Anandapur and its buildings are thousands of genuine artifacts that Disney Imagineers brought back from their multiple research trips.

As the story goes, guest are here as adventurers, seeking the services of a local company named  Himalayan Escapes Tours and Expeditions, which will take us and our mountaineering gear to base camp of Mount Everest.  As you wait to board your steam train you enter the building that housed the offices of the former Anandapur Tea Company.  Starting in the booking office a ransacked room with computer and printer and local wood carvings on the desk, a note taped to the back of the chair reads "be right back."  As you move on through the open courtyard to the Mandir an authentic  recreation of a Nepalese temple. Nepalese artisans created many of the wood carvings in this building, as well as the building itself.  Look up and you'll see bells of all shapes and sizes, which should be rung upon entry to announce our presence to the deities.  Images of the Yeti are found throughout the Mandir in the form of  carvings and shrines complete with offerings of fruit.  Next stop inside the Tashis Trek and Tongba Shop where climbing ropes and other gear for your adventure hang along with teapots and food, including ye-tea.  Up next you enter the Yeti Museum located in a converted tea warehouse.  Here you'll see a plaster cast of an oversized Yeti footprint and graphic evidence of the lost expedition of 1982.  Check out the shredded tents, mangled camping gear, and photos that were developed from a recovered camera, showing us terrifying blurry images of a Yeti with bared fangs.  The last stop in the queue takes you from the museum and along a hallway to your waiting train.  On the wall are photos of the climbing crew that will assist you on your adventure.
Most people use the Fountain of Nations as a meeting place, a photo op, or a starting place to get your bearing as you head to Soarin or Test Track.  Throughout the day the fountain is an attraction in itself.  Plumes of water fill the air as a soundtrack plays uplifting music.  At night colorful lighting effects accompany the show. The fountain water came from lakes, rivers, and oceans of twenty-three countries and were poured in one by one in one gallon vessels.  The water was meant to signify the international  understanding and cooperation that Epcot Center stands for.
Located at the end of Sunset Blvd at Disney's Hollywood Studio's you'll find the Hollywood Tower Hotel home to Disney's Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.  The attraction is based on the old television show the Twilight Zone. As the story goes, the Hollywood Hotel has been struck by lighting on October 31, 1939, mysteriously transporting an elevator full of hotel guest to the Twilight Zone and causing an entire wing of the hotel to disappear.

As you walk down Sunset Blvd you see the hotel standing 199 feet high and hear the screams of the guest as they plummet down the darkened elevator shaft, which gets your heart racing for what awaits you ahead.  As you enter the lobby, you see that everything is covered by dust and cobwebs.   From here you are directed to the Library.  Before the door closes and the lights dim, look around. You'll see props from Twilight Zone episodes on top of the bookcases.  The room goes dark, the television turns on, and there in black and white is Rod Serling, host and creator of  the old Twilight Zone television show.  He tells the story of the Hollywood  Tower hotel and the events of that October night when a young couple, a little girl with her Governess, and a bellhop entered the elevator.  The doors close, they start to go up, lightning hits the hotel and they all vanish.  The lights come back on and you exit the library into the boiler room where you board a rickety old freight elevator to start you on your journey to the top of the Hollywood Towers Hotel, but this will not be a normal elevator ride. Welcome to the Twilight Zone.

As you glide through mysterious hotel passageways, past ghostly images of the missing guest you next  find yourself  launched skyward unexpectedly, then, just as suddenly the cables snap and electrical sparks shower down.  The doors of your elevator abruptly open to reveal Disney's Hollywood Studios far below you.  The vehicle then plunges 13 stories and then shoots you back skyward in a series of drops and climbs.  Each ride is programmed for a ransom sequins of drops. So each time you ride Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, you'll have a new experience.

You exit the attraction through the gift shop where you find T shirts, pins, and more themed to the attraction.  Don't forget to check out your photos from you ride as you exit.

You can also enjoy Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney's California Adventure in Aniehem.

Being one of the most popular attractions at Hollywood Studios lines build up quickly.  So it's a good idea to ride right when the park opens and go on and get a fastpass for a second ride a little later.
Imagineers watched each and every episode of the original Twilight Zone series at least twice for inspiration before developing this attraction.
HIDDEN SURPRISES!
Disney could not build a resort in Hawaii without including these magical little people of Hawaiian legend smiling from ear to ear as they hide, play, and make mischief throughout the new resort.  Menehunes legend depict them as elf like characters or as ancient people who lived freely on the islands before being forced into hiding by the arrival of the Polynesians from Tahiti.

The Disney Imagineers have hidden more that 200 menehune carvings throughout the resort.  You'll find them hidden inside the resort, peering from rocks and trees, and lurking in nooks and crannies. So keep your eyes open. The Aulani Imagineering team stayed true to the real legends by working with experts on the subject  and reviewing the collections of information at the Bishop Museum of history and culture on O'ahu.  The carvings of the Menehue throughout the resort are base on images from this research.  Menehunes are another of the many details that Disney has added to make Aulani more than just another resort in Hawaii. It is an adventure.
